Comcast is a Fortune 30 global media and technology company that is seeking a Security Research Engineer with expertise in Internet measurement. The role involves developing a cryptographic inventory and visibility solution using enterprise network telemetry and Internet measurement techniques, while collaborating with internal teams and external partners to enhance cybersecurity efforts.
Design and implement security-focused systems and proof-of-concepts for enterprise and cloud environments.
Develop and integrate open-source security solutions with existing systems.
Research and prototype new cybersecurity and privacy technologies, including cryptographic mechanisms.
Analyze network traffic and metadata to assess protocol security, compliance, and risk posture.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to validate findings, publish research, and contribute to open-source tools.
Stay current with evolving standards in cryptography (e.g., TLS 1.3, post-quantum crypto) and network security.
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field with 2+ years of professional experience OR equivalent.
Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and network protocols (e.g., TLS, IPsec, DNSsec).
Proficiency in development and engineering skills using languages such as Python and C.
Familiarity with cryptographic algorithms (RSA, ECC, AES) and digital signatures.
Ability to learn and work independently, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred
Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical field.
Experience with or familiarity with post-quantum cryptography.

Track record of publications, contributions to patents, and active involvement in research and engineering projects.
