General Dynamics Mission Systems develops high-technology solutions for defense and scientific missions. The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer will design and implement cybersecurity capabilities for mission-critical U.S. Navy systems, translating customer needs and security controls into system solutions while supporting threat analysis, requirements engineering, documentation, and authorization activities.
Design cybersecurity capabilities that meet Navy requirements and address evolving threats
Analyze existing systems, engineering documentation, and development processes
Conduct cybersecurity threat analyses and risk assessments
Translate government requirements and security controls into clear, verifiable system requirements
Maintain requirements traceability throughout the engineering lifecycle
Develop and review systems engineering and accreditation documentation
Collaborate with engineering, test, logistics, cybersecurity, and program teams
Support Authorization and Accreditation activities with customers and other stakeholders
Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations to technical and nontechnical audiences
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field
Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required
A solid foundation in systems engineering principles and lifecycle practices
Experience developing, managing, and tracing system requirements
Familiarity with access control, auditing, network security, intrusion prevention, or encryption
Exposure to ICD 503, NIST SP 800-53, the DoD Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG), or the DoD 8500 series
Experience with threat analysis, risk assessment, or accreditation support
Strong technical writing skills and experience producing clear, accurate engineering documentation
Ability to collaborate and communicate across engineering disciplines
Experience working in an Agile environment and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Preferred
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire
