Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quantitative models and strategies to enhance decision-making, pricing, and risk management
  • Design and maintain high-performance trading platforms and risk systems, integrating new features to improve reliability and user experience
  • Conduct research and data analysis to uncover market trends and drive innovation through advanced methodologies and technologies
  • Collaborate with traders, sales teams, and stakeholders in Risk and Finance to deliver customised solutions and translate business needs into scalable tech tools
  • Work cross-functionally with compliance, IT, and strategy teams to resolve system issues and continuously improve trading infrastructure
  • To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions
  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes

  • OR for an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will identify new directions for assignments and/ or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done

  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes

Qualification

Required

  • To be considered for this opportunity, you'll be motivated with a strong degree or expected degree achieved before June 2027
  • You'll have strong mathematical and programming skills, ideally in C/C++ or Python, along with logical thinking, creative problem solving and strong communication skills
  • Barclays will accept applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK and will provide a skilled worker visa for successful applicants if they meet the Home Office's eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa
  • Successful applicants who are not eligible to receive a skilled worker visa, and who we are therefore unable to secure a skilled worker visa for, will be required to have their own legal right to work in the UK on a full-time basis from August 2027 to August 2028
