The Data Editor will acquire, evaluate, curate, and validate scientific datasets for databases, software platforms, APIs, and scientific information products while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve data quality and support product objectives.
Curate, validate, and maintain high-quality scientific data and metadata for Wiley products
Assess scientific content in the context of customer workflows, product requirements, and scientific best practices
Develop editorial plans and identify content priorities that support customer needs and business objectives
Acquire and manage scientific content from internal and external sources
Collaborate across product, engineering, scientific, and commercial teams to support product development and releases
Improve editorial processes, data quality, and content scalability through continuous innovation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Materials Science, Chemical Information Science, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline
Foundational knowledge of spectroscopy and analytical chemistry acquired through coursework, laboratory work, research projects, or internships
Experience working with scientific data, including data analysis, validation, interpretation, or quality assessment
Familiarity with Python, R, MATLAB, or similar tools for scientific data analysis gained through academic projects, research, internships, or professional experience
Familiarity with scientific data formats such as CSV, XML, JSON, JCAMP-DX, SDF, or similar structured data formats
Understanding of Agile or iterative project delivery practices through academic, research, internship, or professional experience, and willingness to work within Agile product development teams
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies, anomalies, and data quality issues
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional international team environment
Preferred
Experience with one or more analytical techniques, including IR, Raman, NMR, UV-Vis, GC-MS, or LC-MS
Experience with Python data libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, or similar tools for data analysis and manipulation
Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or other project and issue tracking systems
Experience working with scientific databases, reference data collections, laboratory information systems, or scientific software
Undergraduate research, co-op, internship, or industry experience involving scientific data management or data-intensive projects
