PSEG is a Fortune 500 company focused on clean energy technology and community support. The Database Operations Analyst will design, develop, and maintain databases to support business decisions, perform data analysis, and provide insights for various operations teams.
Review/create reports, tables and databases to determine inconsistencies and/or irregularities
Develop tables, queries, and code within SQL Server
Must possess the ability to transfer data from the backend of Microsoft Access to SQL using limited applications.
Must possess well developed planning, organizational, leadership and time management skills in order to investigate and develop solutions to requests.
Develop and generate ad-hoc reports and scorecard reports from existing systems that support informational needs of management and/or operating personnel
Proficient in designing SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to extract data from multiple sources and perform relevant analysis.
Collect, summarize and analyze various reports and performance measures
Prepare reports (daily, monthly, annually, and ad hoc)
Actively participate in problem solving initiatives to determine root cause, gap analysis, along with the development and implementation of process improvement recommendations
Provide timely feedback to determine effectiveness of implemented solutions and take corrective action as required
Reconcile data transfer between systems and ensure accuracy and integrity of data through regular audits and validation procedures.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
Assist on special projects as required.
Support the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes. These can include creating and maintaining journal entries, conducting actual vs plan analysis, and creating ad hoc analysis.
Assist in analyzing results and identify areas of opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
Provide training and support to team members on the use of Access databases and other data analytical tools.
Distribute work assignments to the union staff from multiple data streams.
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree preferably in Business Management, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics or other related discipline, and a minimum of 2 years Analyst experience; in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of experience in customer operations, business, accounting, economics, computer science, or finance and proficiency with databases
Excellent computer skills, specifically proficiency with Microsoft Access programming with VBA, Oracle or similar applications and Excel
Demonstrated proficiency in PowerPoint, Word and Tableau
Knowledge of SQL from end to end
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Must have excellent verbal, quantitative and written communication skills
Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. Driver's License and a safe and satisfactory driving history
Must demonstrate a sense of teamwork and initiative
