Burford Capital is a leading global finance and asset management firm focused on law. The firm is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team, where they will support the operation and development of Burford’s proprietary investment modeling software.
Supporting the development and refinement of Burford’s proprietary investment modeling platform
Working with the business-facing team to understand model logic, analytical objectives, and enhancement priorities
Drafting functional and technical specifications for new features, platform improvements, and analytical tools
Preparing test packets and validation materials to confirm that functionality performs as intended
Coordinating with Project Management, Business Architecture, and Technology teams to support effective delivery of software changes
Identifying opportunities to improve the modeling systems and communicating recommendations to the wider Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team
Maintaining documentation of requirements, testing outcomes, platform functionality, and related development decisions
Qualification
Required
Candidates should have an outstanding academic record
Candidates should be currently pursuing or have recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree in a STEM field
Candidates must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
A collaborative working style that enables them to interact with team members at all levels of the company
High energy, self-starter with an ability to comprehend and quickly learn new concepts
Strong Excel skills are required. Candidates should be able to review, troubleshoot, and validate spreadsheet-based analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication
Preferred
Python experience is highly preferred
Practical experience using AI tools to improve productivity and work quality, with a proactive mindset toward identifying new ways to use AI responsibly and effectively
