First Hawaiian Bank is a well-established financial institution recognized for its commitment to community and employee satisfaction. They are seeking a Data Governance Analyst I to support key data governance activities, ensuring sound practices for managing data assets across the bank.
Supporting key data governance activities across the enterprise including data quality monitoring, data control assessment, design, implementation, and issue remediation
Identifying and documenting key data elements used in key data use cases posing regulatory and financial reporting risk to the bank or supporting major strategic initiatives
Collaborating with data owners, data stewards, process owners and IT exports alongside their own team to oversee processes and create verifiable business rules that help establish key enterprise data is valid and fit for use in key reports, models, decision processes and AI use cases
Guiding and supporting business units in the implementation of data controls designed to improve the quality of the data under their control
Monitoring, consolidating and reporting the risks using Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to ensure effective oversight
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business, data science, economics, finance, IT, related field, or equivalent, directly related experience required
Minimum 2 years of data governance, data analysis or business analyst experience, ideally with a focus on banking data
Must have led projects from business development to final delivery
A solid understanding of data management, data administration, and information lifecycle governance
A foundational understanding of banking and finance
Experience in data profiling and data analysis
Experience interacting with enterprise-wide data warehouses, legacy systems, data marts, and business intelligence systems
Experience with Relational Databases (preferably Oracle) and/or other data integration and management tools
Ability to read code and/or specifications for database, file, and record definitions
Sufficient experience to understand large-scale, commercial application packages such as those that support the bank
Strong written and verbal communication skills for report and presentation creation, business requirement proposals, client interaction, and methodology documentation
Works well across multiple business units
Solid organizational skills, with the ability to handle complex projects in a multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines with quality results
Thoroughness, attention to detail and excellent follow-through
Able to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve problems quickly
Able to handle confidential matters judiciously
Team player able to apply judgement when to seek guidance from other team members
Ability to write and execute SQL queries for data retrieval
Preferred
Master's degree in business, data science, economics, finance, IT or a related field preferred
Prior experience applying Agile principles and Scrum methodology is a plus
Experience in Cross-functional/Cross-Company projects is preferred
Ability to program software is a plus, especially in Python
