BASF is expanding its trinamiX brand group in the United States, focusing on innovative solutions in advanced sensing technologies. As a Data Scientist, you will develop machine-learning-based material classifiers and conduct research on deep learning architectures to create systems for the smartphone and automotive industries.
Training and evaluating deep convolutional and vision transformer neural networks to enhance the accuracy, generalizability, and speed of our material classifiers.
Conducting exploratory data analysis to develop models that align with product requirements.
Performing hyperparameter tuning to optimize model performance.
Collaborating with data engineers to design a robust and balanced dataset tailored to specific objectives.
Contributing new technical ideas to advance our liveness roadmap.
Performing code reviews and providing constructive feedback to fellow data scientists.
Qualification
Required
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a specialization in AI/ML or a related field
Bring over 2 years of experience in tackling machine learning challenges within a collaborative environment, particularly with real-world data, including image classification, object detection, segmentation, and embeddings
Possess experience in project management and coordination
Demonstrate strong proficiency in Python 3, PyTorch, and deep learning architectures
Exhibit analytical thinking, creativity, responsibility, initiative, and a hands-on approach
Be comfortable working in a Linux environment
Preferred
Experience with depth cameras and sensor data
Familiarity in Pytest, Pandas, NumPy, MATLAB, and/or C++
