Google is a leading technology company, and they are seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician to operate, monitor, and support physical facilities conditions for their data centers. This role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting server hardware, managing server racks, and ensuring optimal operational readiness of cooling and electrical systems.
Perform basic diagnosis and troubleshooting of server hardware and infrastructure malfunctions
Support the deployment of server racks, manage power and network cabling, and ensure the integrity of hot/cold aisle containment systems
Monitor and maintain mechanical water-cooling infrastructure on the server floor; manage water chemistry, and perform pump replacements as required
Monitor basic electrical systems and cooling loops on the server floor to ensure optimal operational readiness and thermal stability
Execute operational workflows, checklists, and preventative maintenance procedures precisely and thoroughly
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
2 years of Electrical experience (eg. electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution) in an industrial or commercial environment
Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs of equipment, the required use of OSHA standard safety equipment such as limited weight bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools and personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety harnesses
Experience in Electrical Safety, Electrical Maintenance, Electricity, Mechanical Maintenance, Mechanical Testing, Controllers, Safety and Health Protection
Preferred
2 years of experience in maintenance of electrical distribution systems or construction/technical environment or a related field
Experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants
Knowledge of electrical systems used in a data center environment (e.g., Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units)
Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment
Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems
