Google is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer for their Platforms Infrastructure team, responsible for prototype bring-up, validation, and qualification of server, networking, and optical platforms. The role involves ensuring lab resources are accounted for and maintaining a safe and organized working environment.
Perform Linux systems administrative tasks which will include debugging system and network issues related to lab networks and connectivity to engineering test setups
Work with cross-functional teams on set up tasks such as prototype hardware assembly, programming with hardware tools, and installing firmware updates
Receive and manage hardware components and material for projects and disperse hardware per allocation plan
Work with teams bringing up new labs and services. Tasks include documenting lab bench and rack configurations and prioritizing tasks related to project bring up
Manage and organize lab inventory of consumables and equipment utilized by lab users and maintain an organized, clean and safe operating lab
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
1 year of experience working in a lab environment
Experience with Linux and networking configuration
Ability to lift and move 30 lbs of equipment and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors
Preferred
Certification in RHCE or CCNA
5 years of experience working in an engineering laboratory environment
Ability to work with cross-functional teams on bringing up tasks on prototype hardware that include assembly, device programming with hardware tools, and firmware updates
Ability to manage and organize lab inventory of parts, supplies, and equipment
Ability to maintain an organized, clean and safe operating lab
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
