The Autocap team is seeking a Software Engineer to design and maintain backend services for automated capacity management, enhancing resource efficiency and service reliability across Google production services.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services and components within the Autocap capacity management ecosystem
Contribute to the architecture and implementation of scalable and reliable infrastructure for demand forecasting, resource modeling, supply management, and footprint optimization
Collaborate with team members and partner teams (e.g., Spatial Flex, Rollouts, Server Platform, Flex) to integrate Autocap with other production systems and enhance end-to-end automation
Improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency by refactoring code, optimizing algorithms, and addressing technical debt
Contribute to the team's technical roadmap and help shape the future of automated capacity management at Google. Write and review design documents and high-quality code, adhering to Google's engineering best practices and standards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
2 years of experience in general software development
2 years of experience with back-end software development
1 year of experience with distributed systems
Preferred
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related technical field
3 years of experience in infrastructure development
Experience with large-scale production environments and technologies, such as cluster management systems, Prodspec, Annealing
Experience with data analysis, time-series data, or optimization algorithms
Experience building scalable, reliable, and efficient distributed systems, and the knowledge of systems design
Familiarity with capacity management concepts, resource forecasting, or service placement challenges
