Valmont Industries, Inc. is hiring an Associate Design Engineer to support structural analysis and design of standard utility products. The role develops designs for quotations, customer orders, and manufacturing, ensuring they meet customer specifications, safety standards, and cost objectives while coordinating with engineering, drafting, sales, and manufacturing teams.
Perform structural analysis and design using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering software
Apply engineering principles, standard procedures, and industry codes to complete design assignments
Interpret customer specifications and translate requirements into practical, manufacturable designs
Provide engineering support to drafting, sales, quoting, and project teams
Communicate technical information to internal stakeholders and customers
Assist with engineering-related pricing and quotation activities
Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs can be produced efficiently and cost-effectively
Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and team effectiveness
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or other related engineering field with 0-2 years of experience
Technical competence in structural engineering
Strengths in interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt and professionally communicate with a variety of people
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to solve complex problems with high attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines
Preferred
Engineer-in-Training Certificate
CAD skills
Knowledge or understanding of computer programming
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner and be an integral part of a team environment
