SAIC is seeking a Network Engineer to support the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Revolutionary IT Services (RITS) program to monitor USACE infrastructure. The role involves managing Network Engineering projects, deploying and maintaining network systems, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing network performance while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Network Engineering Projects: Coordinate and lead technical risk assessments, resolve implementation conflicts, and manage complex engineering projects.
Network Deployment & Maintenance: Deploy and maintain network systems, ensuring they meet performance requirements.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network issues, restoring performance to optimal levels. Use analysis tools to identify and address network performance problems.
Network Optimization: Continuously analyze network infrastructure and provide performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability improvements.
Virtualization Support: Provide Tier-3 support for virtualization infrastructure, including virtual servers, desktops, and automation.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain up-to-date network topology diagrams, document reported issues in ServiceNow, and generate weekly SITREP reports detailing ongoing outages and scheduled maintenance.
Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure network solutions align with the organization’s goals. Mentor junior engineers to support their career development.
Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors for hardware/software evaluations, procurement, and integrations.
Qualification
Required
Bachelors and two (2) years of experience; additional four (4) years experience accepted in lieu of degree
Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale, high-performance network infrastructures.
Expertise in routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing.
Experience with SDN (Software-Defined Networking), network automation, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.).
Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, IP subnets, routing protocols, and system monitoring.
Hands-on experience with CISCO devices, VPNs, MPLS, and network security (e.g., firewalls, ACLs).
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of networking protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP). Expertise in routing and switching platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Arista) and SDN (Cisco SDN, VMware/KVM, Python).
Security Expertise: Knowledge of network security tools and techniques (e.g., IDS/IPS, firewalls, VPNs, endpoint security).
Automation & Scripting: Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
Cloud Networking: Experience in cloud network architecture and integration (AWS, Azure, etc.).
Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex network issues efficiently.
Project Management: Strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
CompTIA Security+
Core Network Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent
Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance; Interim Secret required prior to start (US Citizenship)
