Caterpillar Inc., through its Cat Financial subsidiary, provides financing solutions for construction and mining equipment and related products worldwide. The Information Technology Foundation Program is a 2–3 year rotational program in applications, infrastructure, or security, supporting technical solutions, system enhancements, troubleshooting, automation, and project execution while building foundational IT skills.
Provides application and/or technical infrastructure support, including problem identification and resolution
Follows established development and support processes, including but not limited to, System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) or related methodologies
Works with business partners to gather requirements for technical solutions and troubleshoots system related issues
Under direction of more experienced team members, assists in the configuration, implementation and upgrades of existing systems and/or infrastructure
Provides support and input to projects, including task planning and execution
Works within well-defined objectives and instructions from systems staff for use in designing, testing and documentation
Works to automate tasks and processes with scripting and automation tools
Strives to meet the quality standards set forth by management
Ensures availability when necessary for off-shift and weekend support functions
Participates in accomplishment of continuous improvement objectives for the department. Progress toward accomplishment of these is measured through maintenance of necessary measurements and analysis of associated data. Participates in the identification of problem areas and development of resolutions to address them
Qualification
Required
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale at the time of application. Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA through graduation
Degree must be completed by hire date in one of the following degree programs: Information Technology majors (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Science, AI) or other relevant degrees
Authorized to work in U.S

Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of SDLC, ITSM or related methodologies
Understanding of one or more programming and/or scripting languages (e.g. Java, .Net, SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
Ability and willingness to learn new technologies
Ability to gain a general understanding of core business procedures and operations
Ability to troubleshoot and recommend process changes that improve the overall implementation, maintenance and support of applications and/or technical infrastructure
Knowledge of and ability to apply basic math and data analysis skills
