Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize high-performance 5G Layer 1/Layer 2 (L1/L2) software modules on General Purpose Processor (GPP) platforms
  • Work collaboratively with global teams across the full product development lifecycle
  • Develop solutions for 5G NR capabilities with consideration for future 6G readiness
  • Debug, test, and integrate features to meet industry standards and operator requirements
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions to support best-practice implementations

Qualification

Required

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field
  • Knowledge or experience in telecom software development, with a focus on 4G/5G L1/L2, preferably on GPP (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) platforms
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and embedded systems programming
  • Foundational understanding of 3GPP 5G NR standards and protocols
  • Some experience with multi-core, multi-threading programming and performance optimization

Preferred

  • Experience with Scheduler (L2) is considered a strong asset
  • Experience with cloud-native and containerized network functions is an asset
  • Knowledge of Open RAN (O-RAN) and virtualization technologies is an asset
  • Familiarity with AI/ML applications in telecommunications is an asset

  • Hiring Bonus: Bachelors: $8,500 CAD Masters: $11,500 CAD PhD: $17,500 CAD
  • Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan (select if STV)****: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

  • Employees will also basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage at two-times annual base pay at no cost, as well as short-term disability coverage.
  • Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson’s Stock Purchase Plan.
  • New employees are provided a minimum of 18 days of accrued vacation, at least 3personal days, minimum 10 holidays, 1 volunteer day, and sick days.
  • Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date.
  • Ericsson provides up to 10 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
