PACCAR is a global technology leader in the design and manufacture of commercial vehicles. They are seeking a motivated Diagnostic Software Engineer to design and develop diagnostic procedures for heavy-duty vehicle electronic systems and enhance the quality and usability of diagnostic tools.
Design and develop guided diagnostic procedures for heavy‑duty commercial vehicle electronic systems within an off‑board diagnostics platform
Create, document, and implement diagnostic algorithms, software components, and user interfaces
Develop software using a visual logic development environment following Agile methodologies
Provide engineering support during product launches at manufacturing facilities
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality, reliability, and usability of diagnostic systems
Partner with cross‑functional teams—including manufacturing, service, product development, IT, suppliers, and validation—to ensure smooth deployment of effective, user‑focused diagnostic tools
Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams to meet international requirements and deliver localized content where necessary
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
2+ years of experience with automotive electronic systems, including substantial hands‑on work with on‑ and off‑board diagnostics
Proficiency in object‑oriented software development; experience with one or more languages such as Python, Java, C++, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Ruby, or Swift is highly valued
Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, results‑driven team environment
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Willingness to travel domestically or internationally up to 5%
Preferred
Familiarity with automotive or commercial vehicle communication networks such as CAN, SAE J1939, and LIN
Experience producing technical documentation, including simplified drawings and diagrams for production and service teams
