The Embedded Software Co-op will develop, integrate, verify, and troubleshoot embedded software and firmware for optical transport systems using C/C++, RTOS platforms, ARM processors, and FPGA-based components.
Develop and maintain embedded software and firmware using C/C++ for optical transport systems
Design, implement, integrate, and verify real-time embedded solutions from requirements through deployment
Support development on RTOS-based platforms, including low-level drivers, interrupt handling, and control firmware
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware, ARM processors, and FPGA-based components
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues involving software, hardware, optics, and multi-processor architectures
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering at an accredited school in the United States
Experience developing embedded software in C/C++ on RTOS-based platforms
Knowledge of firmware development, interrupt handling, low-level drivers, and timing-critical systems
Experience working with ARM processors, hardware interfaces, and multi-processor architectures
Familiarity with FPGA/CPLD integration and hardware-software interaction
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Preferred
Preferred standing: 3rd- or 4th-year undergraduate student or Master's student
Experience with embedded Linux or other operating systems used in embedded development
Exposure to optical networking, telecommunications, or networking protocols
Experience using debugging tools, version control systems, and software development best practices
