General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to help create advanced technologies that support national security. The role involves developing and maintaining software, collaborating with teams, troubleshooting issues, and participating in code reviews.
Develop and maintain software for Payload Control System
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and integrate software solutions
Troubleshoot and resolve software issues to ensure optimal system performance
Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of software development practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months relevant experience
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire
US Citizenship required
Proficiency in C++ programming. Specifically, the standard template library (STL), smart pointers, and inheritance
Experience working with Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS)
Experience with networking protocols, AMQP, and socket programming such as TCP and UDP
Experience with software development and source control best practices (Git)
Preferred
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Software development experience in a Linux environment
Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker
Experience with the QT Framework
Understanding of BYG-1 and knowledge of submarine systems and operations
Experience with Jira and Confluence
