Scotiabank is a purpose-driven organization committed to results and inclusivity. They are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to develop and maintain revolving credit applications, work on strategic technology initiatives, and ensure operational excellence through troubleshooting and documentation.
Develop and maintain revolving credit applications including BAU, Intake and Projects
Work on strategic technology initiatives, including cloud migration, database upgrades, and enhancements to monitoring and observability tools
Define and enforce best practices including coding standards
Drive experimentation and optimization through proof of concepts and other means
Maintain system protocols and documentation to support operational excellence and risk management
Proactively troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring minimal customer impact and timely, effective remediation
Qualification
Required
Strong proficiency in Java, with hands-on experience in the Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring MVC)
Experience in designing and developing APIs
Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, IBM DB2) and no-SQL databases (e.g. MongoDB)
Good understanding of Scotiabank's Customer Experience Center platform and Cloud platform (Azure, GCP)
Good understanding of Credit Card Processing
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field required
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proven experience in designing and deploying real-time solutions in a financial services environment
