The Software Engineer I will build and deploy scalable platform features, APIs, backend services, and integrations in an API-heavy microservices environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting live systems.
Design, implement and deploy new features and services
Build features and services using Kotlin, and front-end technologies
Build APIs, backend services and integrations that support our products
Work with relational and non-relational data stores
Work with a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, engineers and QA
Ensure proper monitoring and respond to issues with live environments
Be an advocate for good engineering practices
Contribute to a learning culture
Qualification
Required
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person University or College
* A track record of commitment to prior employers
* 1+ years of development experience, designing and delivering features and services in a cloud environment
* Experience developing SaaS solutions using modern OOP languages, such as Java and/or Server-side Kotlin
* Problem-solving and debugging skills in all areas of platform development
* Ability to work well in an agile environment

Preferred
* Experience with microservices such as Docker and Kubernetes
* Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
* Experience with messaging frameworks, such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
* Familiarity with Python
* Familiarity with Elasticsearch
* Exposure to non-relational data stores such as FoundationDB
* Familiarity with UI frameworks such as React or Angular
