The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Modernization Software Engineer to support their Space Mission Systems team with the Global Satellite Configuration and Control Equipment program in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The role involves updating and modernizing military satellite communications ground systems and encompasses the entire product development lifecycle.
Applies in core I&T skills, contributes to effective producibility of designs, cost, repeatable approach while managing schedule constraints
Supports and executes test cases and scenarios to validate software functionality, performance, and safety, while identifying and reporting defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities, test plans, and documents
Supports trade studies, performance analyses, risk and opportunity assessments
Develops and maintains automated test scripts and frameworks to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes
Participates in verification plan development and validation capturing how program requirements will be verified, including identification of key test artifacts essential for verification
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, document findings, and providing feedback
Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root causes, recommend, and develop a solution to ensure optimal performance
Develops clean, maintainable, and efficient code within the existing codebase, ensuring alignment with established architecture and coding standards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher
1+ years' career experience in systems engineering, systems integration, and/or software engineering
1+ years' experience in software system integration and test
Preferred
Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 2+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of directly related work experience OR 10+ years of related, relevant experience
Experience with web-based development efforts, leveraging ReactJS, Redux, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS
Experience with RESTFul APIs
Experience with open-source software development
Experience with web socket programming and object-oriented programming (i.e., Java)
Experience troubleshooting software and network integration during platform deployments
Experience integrating and troubleshooting front-end and back-end software components, including supporting fix regardless of component
Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices, along with experience supporting Government security requirements for software delivery involving system accreditation
Experience working in an Agile software development environment utilizing Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) or similar tools
Experience identifying security vulnerabilities within source code
