Daktronics creates digital LED display technology and audio systems for sports, commercial, and public environments. The Software Design Student will gain hands-on experience across software development and testing, including identifying deficiencies, conducting manual and automated testing, developing applications, writing unit tests, and supporting software requirements and design documentation.
Become proficient in the use of testing tools and methodologies
Work with users and Daktronics personnel to answer questions and resolve problems
Create automated test scripts for regression testing
Create automated tests from approved 3rd party tools
Develop, debug, and maintain software applications using Microsoft Visual Studio
Develop and support software applications using development languages like C#, C++, JavaScript, etc. and other software development tools like Salesforce, Azure, Angular, and other cloud-based services
Leverage AI tools to enhance testing efficiency and code quality, accelerate debugging, and support the exploration of new technical solutions
Work within a development team to solve problems
Write unit tests for new code and existing code
Complete quality work in a timely manner
Assist in the development of software product requirements and design documentation
Perform other duties as needed or assigned
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related degree
Only strong academic performers will be considered and must maintain an acceptable GPA, with preference to 3.0 GPA or greater
Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application
Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation
Good problem solving and critical thinking skills
Regularly and reliably work scheduled hours
Fluent in English, both written and verbal
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older

Object oriented programming knowledge is required
Knowledge of the Microsoft.Net Framework and Visual Studio
Knowledge of GIT or other source control software
Good oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate complex technical concepts
Shown ability to work collaboratively on projects or with a partner/team
Preferred
The preferred applicant will be a student registered in at least 12 credits
The preferred applicant will be in their sophomore or junior year of school
Knowledge of C++, C#, and/or Java preferred, but other object-oriented languages are acceptable
