Responsibilities

Implement backend services that support NCIC searches and external database integrations
Contribute to partner-facing Records APIs, including endpoint development and data modeling
Integrate with external systems while ensuring secure, compliant handling of sensitive data
Write high-quality, well-tested code that meets reliability and performance standards
Improve monitoring, logging, and operational visibility for search and integration workflows
Contribute to UI components that support operational workflows where needed
Participate in on-call rotations and support incident resolution
Collaborate with engineering, product, and partner teams to clarify requirements and deliver features

Qualification

Required

0-2+ years of professional software engineering experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Strong programming fundamentals and experience building backend services
Basic understanding of cloud-based systems, services, or development workflows
Ability to work effectively on well-scoped tasks and ask for help when encountering ambiguity
Strong willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and problem domains
Collaborative mindset and clear communication skills when working with teammates

Preferred

Familiarity with distributed systems concepts or service-oriented architectures
Experience building prototypes quickly leveraging existing APIs, like at Hackathons
Experience using AI-assisted development tools
Interest in working across the fullstack and using multiple technologies
Interest in working directly with customer feedback or real-world use cases
