The Walt Disney Company is seeking talented and passionate individuals for their Summer 2026 Technology Internship Program at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Interns will gain insight into how technology supports the creative process while collaborating on software development, systems engineering, and providing technical support.
Software Development: Collaborate with teams to develop and enhance tools, systems, and applications that support the animation pipeline and artist workflows, including web development, data engineering, graphics engineering, and backend systems.
Systems Engineering: Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT and media systems, networking, contributing to infrastructure development, asset management, and hardware configuration to ensure seamless operations across the studio.
Technical Support: Provide desktop support and troubleshoot technical issues, working closely with the studio’s helpdesk and systems operations teams to ensure a smooth user experience for our artists and technologists. Our work often gives technologists the opportunity to interface with artists directly to triage issues.
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university with a major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, AI/ML, Human Computer Interaction, Design, Digital Art, Animation, or a related field.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, JavaScript, SQL, or similar.
Familiarity with operating systems like macOS, Windows, or Linux, as well as experience with software tools such as Maya, Houdini, or similar.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
A passion for technology, animation, and storytelling.
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Preferred
Experience with Code Assists (e.g., Github Copilot, Claude), web frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js).
Knowledge of ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
Experience with Knowledge of MLOps pipelines, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), or database management.
Familiarity with animation workflows, computer graphics, media systems, or IT asset management.
A strong interest in contributing to the development of cutting-edge tools and systems in an animation production environment.
College Junior or Senior preferred
Major or previous coursework in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Game Development, Computer Graphics, Digital Media, Animation, or a related field
