LMI is seeking a Junior Product Designer to support a digital transformation program focused on AI-enabled workflow modernization and automation. This role involves human-centered design activities, translating user needs into digital solutions, and collaborating with various teams to enhance user experience.
Support discovery to identify automation, dashboard, AI, and workflow improvement opportunities
Document workflows, pain points, manual processes, data access barriers, and adoption challenges
Assist with user interviews, working sessions, usability tests, and feedback sessions
Help translate user needs into product concepts, wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications
Create user flows, journey maps, workflow maps, wireframes, and low- to mid-fidelity prototypes
Support design of AI-enabled experiences that promote trust, transparency, feedback, and human oversight
Assist with organizing and synthesizing research findings, usability feedback, and product insights
Review usage data, user feedback, and help desk trends to help identify product improvements
Support training, onboarding, help content, job aids, and other user enablement materials
Collaborate with product, engineering, data, AI/ML, training, and support teams
Document design decisions, research findings, usability results, and handoff materials
Work with senior designers to strengthen design quality, accessibility, and consistency
Qualification
Required
1+ year of experience in product design, UX, HCD, service design, UX research, or related roles; relevant internships, academic projects, or portfolio work may be considered
Bachelor's degree in HCD, HCI, UX, design, or related field
Experience creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, or design documentation
Basic understanding of user research, usability testing, workflow analysis, and research synthesis
Familiarity with digital products, dashboards, workflow tools, automation, or data-informed interfaces
Interest in AI-enabled products, responsible AI, or human-in-the-loop design
Ability to translate user needs and feedback into clear design artifacts
Ability to support training, onboarding, help content, or user enablement materials
Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a collaborative team environment
Proficiency with Figma, FigJam, Miro, Adobe XD, Sketch, Axure, or similar tools
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
Must be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret-level security clearance
Preferred
Experience supporting government programs focused on digital maturity, workflow modernization, automation, dashboarding, tool adoption, training, user support, or metrics-driven product improvement
Familiarity with AI-assisted tools, intelligent automation, GenAI workflows, or decision-support products
Experience using feedback, usability findings, analytics, or support trends to improve designs
Experience creating training materials, help content, FAQs, quick reference guides, or job aids
Familiarity with Section 508, WCAG, accessibility testing, or inclusive design
