The Account Manager will grow sales and market share for chromatography, mass spectrometry, consumables, and services across academic and commercial accounts in the Pacific Northwest by prospecting, managing customer relationships, developing territory plans, and driving sales through close.
Grow Agilent's market share in chromatography, mass spectrometry, and related consumables and services across the territory
Prospect proactively for new customers and new opportunities; create demand and drive deals from first contact through close
Build and sustain long-term relationships with researchers, faculty, lab managers, and procurement teams
Achieve all sales targets and territory initiatives
Develop and execute a territory plan that expands share across academic and commercial accounts
Partner with Product Specialist, Consumables and Supplies, and Service teams and all One Agilent colleagues in the territory
Forecast accurately on a monthly, quarterly, and half-year basis
Maintain disciplined Salesforce CRM updates, expense reporting, and business reporting
Qualification
Required
* Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or another physical or life science discipline from an accredited university
* 1+ years of relevant experience — either scientific/laboratory experience with analytical instrumentation (GC, LC, MS) or field sales and customer-facing experience
* Basic understanding of chromatography, mass spectrometry, or related analytical workflows
* Demonstrated success in a hunter-oriented sales role: prospecting, pipeline development, and new business acquisition
* Ability to manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, funding sources, and procurement processes
* Experience negotiating contracts and working with purchasing and procurement organizations
* Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at every level, internally and externally
* Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and consultative selling skills
* Strong self-management, organizational, territory planning, and time management skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team-selling environment and independently in a performance-driven setting
* Ability and willingness to travel overnight approximately 75% of the time, often up to three weeks per month
* Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Preferred
* 3+ years of sales experience in analytical instrumentation, laboratory technology, life sciences, or a related scientific market
* Experience selling into academic, university, government, or research laboratory environments
* Technical knowledge of chromatography, mass spectrometry, or related analytical workflows
* Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets and growing market share
