Responsibilities

  • Train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models tasked with scoring short answer and essay responses from standardized tests
  • Monitor the performance of deployed models to ensure consistent, fair, and unbiased scoring in real-time applications
  • Recalibrate and update models as necessary based on ongoing performance metrics and feedback
  • Maintain and improve the codebase used for training and deploying models, ensuring robustness and scalability
  • Conduct experiments and analyze historical model performance to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Research emerging NLP technologies and incorporate relevant innovations into existing systems
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to align model development with psychometric and educational standards
  • Document processes, experiments, and findings to support transparency and reproducibility

Qualification

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
  • 0-2 years of professional experience as a software engineer or data scientist
  • Solid understanding of machine learning principles and current/emerging technologies
  • Proficiency in Python programming and Linux command-line tools
  • Experience with deploying machine learning models into production environments
  • Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, including version control, object-oriented and functional programming, database, and API access patterns
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and model performance metrics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Enthusiasm for agile methodologies, data-driven development, and systematic experimentation
  • Curiosity and a continuous learning mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a collaborative team environment
