Textron Systems develops specialized products and services for defense and commercial customers across air, land, sea, propulsion, weapon systems, electronic systems, and test, training, and simulation capabilities. The company is seeking a hands-on Software/Embedded Systems Engineer to develop C++ software for unmanned aerial systems on embedded Linux platforms, integrate sensors and avionics, troubleshoot system-level issues, and support the full software lifecycle.
Work cohesively on multi-functional teams to deliver reliable, performant, and well-validated system functionality under dynamic, fast-paced program needs
Participate in design reviews and contribute to software architecture, system design improvements, and development best practices
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing or completed B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
Strong proficiency in C++
Experience developing on embedded Linux platforms
Ability to debug complex system interactions across hardware and software
Understanding of embedded systems concepts (I/O interfaces, timing, networking, real-time application considerations)
Familiarity with software configuration management, defect tracking, and continuous integration tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins)
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
Preferred
Experience with UAS, autopilots, and integration (PX4, ArduPilot)
Experience in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and machine learning techniques
Practical experience implementing or optimizing CV/ML models using frameworks such as OpenCV, TensorRT, TensorFlow/Keras/TensorFlow Lite, PyTorch, OpenVINO, or similar
Experience building and maintaining toolchains for automated builds and deployments
Strong understanding of automated testing and CI/CD processes
Ability to work with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers and emulators
